Packers vs. Vikings today

Kickoff at 3:25 CST, airing on FOX and Sirius 80,104. We're playing for a #2 seed in the playoffs and the Vikings are playing to get into the playoffs (iirc). Local sports commentators are amused by the fact that the Bears fans are likely to root for us, assuming they win their own game against the Lions (happening now). I didn't catch why Bears fans want the Vikings to lose, though.

Can anyone tell me the significance of which seed you get in the playoffs? Something about a bye week?
